With the school year coming to an end, and summer quickly approaching, you might find yourself looking for something to do. Well, why not stop by your local movie theater?
2026 has already been an extremely successful year for the cinema, having seen the release of major box-office blockbusters like Michael, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and Project Hail Mary. However, some of the most anticipated films of the year have yet to be released. These include:
Disclosure Day – This sci-fi film by Steven Spielberg, director of various classics such as E.T, Jaws, and Jurassic Park, is expected to be one of his best releases in the past twenty years. Starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor.
Digger – This drama/comedy film by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, director of Birdman and The Revenant, is set to release in early October, and will star Tom Cruise and Sandra Hüller.
The Odyssey – This highly anticipated film adaptation of the ancient Greek epic written by Homer, will be directed by Christopher Nolan, who is known for his various works, including Oppenheimer, Interstellar, and Inception.
Dune: Part Three – Directed by Denis Villeneuve, who is known for the first two Dune movies, as well as Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, and Prisoners; the final installment of the Dune trilogy will star Timothée Chalamet.
Avengers: Doomsday – This upcoming installment of the Marvel cinematic universe is expected to surpass $1.5 billion worldwide. Directed by the Russo Brothers, who are known for their previous work in the Marvel Universe, this upcoming film will feature the return of many fan favorite characters, like Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and will introduce Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
