The 2026 Met Gala official dress code was “Fashion Is Art,” celebrating the opening of the Costume Institute’s “Costume Art” exhibition. The theme of this year’s Met Gala allowed the celebrity attendees to explore fashion and the physical features of people, with the red carpet as an extended metaphor for the museum’s gallery walls. Celebrities truly loved this year’s theme as they shifted away from the modern fashion of 2026 to more performance-based pieces and some of the most famous masterpieces of fashion. One of the co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala was Queen B herself, Beyonce, making a return in a crystallized gown, while other celebrities such as Sabrina Carpenter leaned into surrealism and wearable art, wearing the film pieces of the 1954 movie titled, Sabrina.
