The Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, astonished viewers throughout theatres around the world. After premiering in the United States on April 26th, 2026, it made around 897.9 million dollars in the box office alone. Starring Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson, the movie follows Michael Jackson through his childhood and his lead role in the Jackson Five and through his early life into his rise to fame as one of the biggest solo entertainers in history.
I have almost nothing to say but positive things about this movie. Although I don’t know much about Michael Jackson, as I wouldn’t call myself a superfan, I found the movie extremely entertaining and enjoyable, especially due to the fact that Jaafar Jackson does an excellent job portraying Michael Jackson, his uncle, accurately.
Not only do I feel that Jaafar Jackson did a sensational job, I also feel that the supporting actors also put on excellent performances. Juliano Valdi as young Michael Jackson most definitely deserves recognition for his performance, along with Colman Domingo as Joseph Jackson, Michael’s father.
I thoroughly enjoyed the full songs, choreography, and cinematography that went into this movie. I feel that everything was filmed beautifully. The costumes looked absolutely amazing and high quality and Jackson’s chimp, Bubbles, who was replicated using CGI, was done very well.
My only wishes after watching this movie were that the pacing was a little slower and there was a little more description in certain scenes and events. But take this lightly as I’m usually someone that enjoys slow burn movies with more descriptive shots rather than a variety of different scenes that are faster paced.
Clearly, this movie had a wide variety of effects on viewers. I’ve noticed not only on social media that Jackson’s music and biopic is becoming more popular, but also around me. I’ve seen a great increase in the amount of people frequently listening to and recognizing Jackson’s music.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this movie to superfans, fans, and even those who barely know anything about Jackson as I feel that it would be entertaining to almost anybody. I rate Michael a strong 9 out of 10.
