The Wahconah girls track and field team had an excellent season this year, improving individually and as a whole. With the season coming to a close, it is important to recognize the highlights on the track this year, as there were many moments filled with joy, excitement, and pride.
This year Wahconah graduated twelve seniors from the team, including three team captains: Alex Rougeau, Natalie Aldrich, and Natylee Martin. All of the seniors worked hard and contributed their best to the team and received a well deserved celebration on senior night at the second home meet, where they got to be honored alongside their families.
The teams most accomplished meet of the season was a home meet against Hoosac Valley and Monument Mountain where Wahconah beat both teams, securing several high placements in events such as the 100m dash, 100m Hurdles, 200m dash, and long jump, as well as many other throwing and field events.
Several members on the team competed in the post season with sixteen girls attending the Berkshire County Individuals meet and eight girls attending Western Mass. They brought their all to these tough competitions, striving to meet their highest potential and achieve personal records.
Overall the season as a whole was filled with unforgettable memories among teammates and unconditional love and support from both Coach Walton and Coach Bell. There will be much more to come from this tight knit team as they continue to improve in upcoming seasons.
