The Wahconah Nordic Ski Team consists of fourteen skiers and multiple skilled coaches. The coaches Kate Sanders, Art Sanders, Jared Shannon, Jeremy Traiger, and head coach Ryan Touponce have high expectations and confidence in this team and are certain they are in for a successful season, regardless of having a small team this year. The numbers of skiers declined by a great amount compared to last year. However, this will not stop the Wahconah team from having a great season.
The team had a scrimmage at Mount Greylock. They then had their first race at Prospect Mountain in Vermont on December 31st, 9:30 AM. Their next race was at Mohawk High School on January 3rd with 10AM race start. The Eastern Cup Race held in Western Massachusetts was on January 24th and the next race is Wednesday, January 28th at Mount Greylock.
This year, the team will celebrate three seniors: Owen Tucker, Chris Hyatt, and Jonah Rawson. They are all determined to do well in this sport and will help lead and support the team this season.
