Winter Cheerleading

Winter+Cheerleading

As the fall comes to an end and the cold weather moves in, football season comes to a close for the cheerleaders. This creates a transition from the football field to the gym where the cheerleaders cheer for the basketball team.

Cheering for the basketball team is not the only thing the cheerleaders do during the winter season; they also compete. In the winter season, the stakes and pressure are a lot higher. Because in between all the flips and twists they practice for the games, the cheerleaders must also get their competition routine ready.

In the winter, they compete in more competitions than in the fall. The first competition that the cheerleaders compete at is on February 10th at West Springfield High School. After this competition, they have a handful of competitions until the Wahconah cheerleaders host their competition on February 25th at Wahconah.

As some of you may know, the cheerleaders have won the Winter State Championship in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Sadly in the winter of 2022, the team did not win states. This year, the team is working very hard on gaining their streak back and winning states once more.
