March Madness 2024

March+Madness+2024

Although it is with 100% certainty that everyone’s bracket has busted by now, the pure insanity within March Madness is a spectacle worth watching every year.  The odds of a perfect bracket being filled out is 1 in 9.2 quintillion, and Warren Buffet will forever offer one million dollars to whomever creates the perfect bracket. It, of course, has never been done.

This year, however, gives us a reason to fill out yet another bracket.  The excitement behind women’s collegiate basketball is the greatest up to date.  Superstars like Caitlyn Clark, Angel Reese, Hailey Van Lith, and Paige Bueckers are dominating social media, along with the basketball court. Proven by last year’s viewership numbers, people of all genders are tuning in to spectate the outstanding entertainment that is Women’s March Madness.

Every year the men’s tournament is surrounded by question marks due to it being notorious for making the powerhouses of collegiate men’s basketball question how they even got there by losing to schools most people have never heard of.  What I’ve just described happens every single year. This year’s craziest upset without a doubt was 14-seeded Oakland beating the 3rd-seeded Kentucky, with the hero being a division two walk-on named Jack Gohlke.  Yale knocking out 4 seed Auburn was a close second, which was their second win in tournament history.

Nearly every single bracket was ruined by the second day of March madness this year,  Men’s and Women’s.  Nobody expects the unexpected; that’s what makes it so unexpected.  You can’t argue with odd; that’s why almost every game can come down to a coin flip. That’s what makes the tournaments so thrilling to watch. It’s pure chaos.
