Swimming

Within the town of Dalton, swimming has become a very popular sport that many students have taken interest in. Between the amazing new friendships and teamwork the sport brings and the exhilarating competitiveness the sport also offers, swimming drags more and more attention to the activity and the CRA.

Throughout the swim season this year, the Wahconah swim team has taken three wins against their opponent’s teams. The wins are never handed to Wahconah’s swim team; they simply earn them for all of their hard work, dedication, and positivity they all reflect off of one another. That’s what’s so great about this team; even if they have a bad meet or practice, they always find a way to pull themselves together in a professional way. This year’s varsity swim captains, Ella Reardon, Elizabeth Wheeler, and Riley Gladu, have all led this team to success and created such a positive, supportive, and welcoming environment that more and more students have taken an interest in including the team and sport itself. Every year this team may lose a set of seniors, but that never means that this team will ever change. This is the younger classmen’s chance to encourage others to think about joining the team so that each year they have new members who will maybe become senior captains someday.

Every meet this team has, they may show their excitement through their wins, but they also know how to be humble, sweet competitors to each team they may face. This factor within the team is such an amazing way to influence younger classmen to act and uphold all of the ways that have led this team to success and humbleness. As long as generations of students continue to show passion for the sport and uphold the Wahconah swim team ways, then for years and years to come, Wahconah is looking at a successful future. If you have a passion for swimming and want to explore it, I highly recommend looking into or reaching out to this year’s captains because this could be the sports team that you have always dreamed of being a part of.
