Christmas is a time of cheer, presents, and bonding. Where light snow peppers the landscape, and warm fires cast their orange glow over smiling faces. It’s a time where it’s easy to abandon caloric caution, and indulge in sweet goodness. This article should, hopefully, help to capture the magic of Christmas with some delicious and easy to make donuts to reward all your hard work during the holiday season.
By the end of this recipe, you’ll be able to pride yourself on a yield of six creamy donuts; baked from a recipe that can be easily doubled. The only drawback is that you’ll need to buy a donut pan for about 13 bucks if you don’t have one already to bake this moist, buttery tray of holiday joy. And, the recipe hardly pulls you away from the festivities with a prep time of 10 minutes and a cook time of just 11!

- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 2 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup christmas sprinkles

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (F).
- Lightly grease a doughnut pan; set aside.
- In a large bowl whisk together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl whisk together the milk, butter, and egg. Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry mixture until just combined – don’t over mix! Gently fold in sprinkles. (Fold it in, David!)
- Spoon mixture into prepared doughnut pan, and bake for 10-11 minutes, or until the doughnuts spring back when lightly pressed. Allow doughnuts to cool a few minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool for a few more minutes.
Glaze:
- Combine heavy cream and confectioners’ sugar in a medium-sized bowl. Whisk smooth, adding a touch more cream if the frosting seems too thick; adding a touch more sugar if the frosting seems too thin. Mix in salt and vanilla.
- Once the donuts have cooled completely, spread the frosting over the tops of each and decorate with sprinkles.
