Compost Bins Coming Back

Lily Hinton, Section Editor

The Green Umbrella Club, Wahconah’s environmental group, is taking the initiative in making progressive changes in our school. One of the projects they are working on is getting compost bins for the cafeteria. These existed for a few years but were quickly forgotten after the move into the new building. The amount of compostable items thrown away daily during school lunch is alarming. Composting is a great way to give back to the environment and keep everything from ending up in landfills. The school can positively impact the environment with the little effort it takes to conscientiously toss a banana peel into a separate bin from a plastic bag.
