Our infamous Principal Mr. Robb has recently admitted that next year has “tons of moving parts” regarding Wahconah and the Central Berkshire Regional School District as a whole. Although most of the speculations regarding who will teach which classes, we do have a few pieces of the puzzle solved in terms of staff members departing and others shifting their roles.
The most obvious of these changes is that of our Vice Principal, Mr. Messina. Unfortunately our April Fool’s article regarding his twenty-year extension did not become a reality. We wish him the greatest of retirements. With that being said, Mrs. Walsh will be stepping up into the role of Vice Principal with the whole position changing itself. The official title will be “Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning.” Working closely with the teachers and how they perform their curriculums, she will oversee the roots of any problems and/or improvements to how our students are receiving their education.
On the topic of retiring, crowd favorite Mrs. Moquin is unfortunately no longer going to be with us next school year. Mrs. Moquin’s absence from teaching will result in the entirety of the French subject to be no more. According to Mr. Robb, she will be here next September, but only performing small duties for the remainder of that month before joining the retired world. Thank you Mrs. Moquin for your passion for foreign languages and cultures.
Beloved chemistry ‘wiz’ Mr. Therrian has also decided to retire from teaching for now and pursue his talents with the culinary arts. Many of those who have received a delicious dessert created by Mr. Therrian are aware of his sheer talent with the matter. We wish him the best of luck spreading one of his many gifts to the rest of the world.
It’s not just staff members leaving us, as we see the full return of a familiar face to most. Mrs. Lesage, our current environmental science teacher, plans to make a full return to teaching at Wahconah, as she just spent the year teaching the majority of her classes at our neighboring middle school. She will no longer have to switch between schools during the middle of the day, as she will go back to teaching full-time at Wahconah starting this fall, replacing now Vice Principal Walsh in the science department.
We are also currently awaiting news to hear if our very own principal, Mr. Robb, will be our next Assistant Superintendent!
Although there are many more changes upon us, as of now these are the biggest shifts that Wahconah’s staff page will have to make. Class assignments, and more teachers/staff members are on the move are almost certain to be released throughout the next few months. The changes mentioned may be the only confirmed ones that Mr. Robb is allowed to share with The Main Street Crier (for now).
