The Wahconah swim team is truly making a big splash this year with the start of their season underway. Led by coach Steve Kolis and captains Tim Kaley, Logan Kunde, Ella Reardon, and Elizabeth Wheeler, the team is showing determination and hard work through every meet. From their amazing performance in the pool to their comradery outside of the pool, they are truly setting the standard this year. In their recent meet against Taconic High School, the team dominated with the boy’s 105-41 win and the girl’s 123-37 win. Individual event wins were Emily Capogna (100 breaststroke), Ella Reardon (200 free), Kaylee Prew (50 free), Callie Camillo (100 fly), Victoria Lattizzori (100 free) and Anna Lamontagne (500 free). For the boys, Artois Sancho with a 50-meter freestyle and 100 butterfly win, Kalen Spratt in the individual medley and 100 backstroke. Brayden Ryan won the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke as well. The team also won against PHS in their previous meet.
Throughout all of this, one of the team’s most important values is improvement. The team’s camaraderie is strong, whether it’s cheering on their teammates at meets or supporting them through practice, this team is feeling more like a family than just athletes.
