The 2024 presidential election between Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Donald Trump has been a heavy topic in America for the past few months as the candidates and their respective parties campaigned. This year’s election resulted in a victory for Trump, as he won the popular vote, but more importantly, the electoral college. This is the first time in twenty years that the Republican presidential candidate won the popular vote. The last time was in 2004, when Republican candidate George W. Bush won the popular vote. One quote from President Trump’s victory speech reads “We’re going to fix our borders; we’re going to fix everything about our country and we’ve made history for a reason tonight, and the reason is going to be just that.” In Vice President Harris’ concession speech, she states that she ”will never give up the fight for a future where Americans can pursue their dreams, ambitions, and aspirations” This election season has been a stressful time for many Americans. Regardless of if your candidate won or not, it’s important to remember that we are all Americans and we must find unity in that.
