On February 24, 2023, comedy-horror Cocaine Bear was released in theaters. Based on the 1985 bear-overdose that shocked the world, the movie promised action-packed fun that did anything but take itself seriously. Like the title suggests, the titular Cocaine Bear stumbles across several bags stuffed with cocaine. The bear investigates them, ripping several open, and sniffing them. The ensuing events follow cops, criminals, teenagers, and families through various encounters with the now very high bear. Each scene is full of gore, humor, and violent rampaging. It never pretends to be anything more than a funny spoof film and  absolutely delivers on its promises to keep viewers laughing and entertained from start to finish. For moviegoers and homebodies alike, I’d recommend this movie for its one-of-a-kind story and unapologetic directorial choices.
