Track and Field

Eva Jacinto, Staff Writer

Track and field starts at Wahconah on March 20th! Although there is snow covering our ground and track from the most recent snow storm, that won’t stop the season from starting! Athletes will practice in the school, whether in the weight room, gym, or just going on a run around the school!

The captains for the Girl’s Track team this year are seniors Julia and Olivia Langenheim and junior Adelyn Furlong. As the season begins, we hope this year will be one to remember!

Track and field is a sport that includes sprints, middle-distance and long-distance running, hurdling, jumping, and throwing. It is a sport that has been around for centuries, dating back to the ancient Olympic Games. It is a sport that requires speed, strength, endurance, and agility. And it is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a beginner, there is something for everyone in this sport.

Track and Field is a great sport for people who enjoy personal challenges. Whether you are trying to beat your personal best time or distance, or you are competing against yourself to reach new goals, track and field offers a unique opportunity for self-improvement and growth.

If you have any questions about watching or joining the girls track team, feel free to reach out to Jared Shannon, our Athletic Director. And make it to some meets to support our Wahconah sports teams!
