The new Fantastic Four was a highly anticipated film mostly because other adaptations have not been very well received by critics and audiences alike. The film had a lot of pressure to live up to everyone’s expectations, and in a way was forced to be a success. Many people on the internet said that if the movie was bad they would boycott Marvel and any future projects that they produced. This put this movie into a rut that had the fate of all of marvel riding on it, but did it really live up to the hype that fans created? The short answer is yes, but let’s take a deeper dive into why that is.
For one thing the movie has an incredible setting. It is set in a retro futuristic style that was so vibrant and really made you observe every background. The movie was also casted perfectly, every actor fit their role very well and they made you connect with the characters they portrayed. Fans were also very excited to see the very first live action/CGI Galactus to hit the big screen. While Galactus was technically in the 2007 film “Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer,” he was portrayed more as a cloud of smoke than a comic accurate depiction. Once fans saw Galactus appear in the first trailer, they were very excited to see a new version of him depicted, and the film did not disappoint. While not exactly how fans thought it was going to play out, the movie still didn’t fall short of the charm and excitement the Fantastic Four is expected to have.
Although the movie may not have been what everyone was expecting, it still holds many elements that the original comics had and can really keep audiences engaged. The movie was pretty well received by critics and audiences alike, and I would definitely recommend giving this movie a watch.
