Is Trump going to run again?

Madeline Beatty, Staff Writer

Former president Donald Trump has expressed his desire to run for president time and time again. Whether or not he will run is up in the air. Over his presidency and through his general media presence, he has gained millions of Americans’ support. He publicly believes that he won the 2020 election and that it was “stolen.” At one of his rallies in Pennsylvania, Trump vowed that he would “take back our magnificent White House.” For over a year, he has teased about running again but never publicly declared whether he will actually run. The constant “will he, won’t he?” frustrating as it may be, keeps the public interested. It keeps their attention on him and doesn’t let him become irrelevant. This strategy also keeps his potential rivals at bay. When pressed by a journalist about what factors may impact his decision to run again, Trump responded: “well, in my mind, I’ve already made that decision, so nothing factors in anymore. In my own mind, I’ve already made that decision.” But he has yet to share that decision. Despite the fact that there have been multiple criminal investigations and charges filed against him, he still continues to gain supporters. Republicans are worried that with the recent events revolving around Trump- including the January 6th attack and Mar-a-Lago raid, moderate voters will be more inclined to vote Blue in upcoming elections. However, in the end, no one knows if Trump is actually planning to run again or if it’s just another one of his attention-seeking stunts.
