Trump and White Supremacist Lunch

On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, former president Donald Trump invited Fuentes, young white supremacist, to dinner at his private club in Florida. Fuentes believes that the white race is superior to all the rest. This dinner has created more drama for Donald Trump because of his interaction with someone as racist as Nick Fuentes.

Nick Fuentes was a die-hard supremacist who thought the white race was better and superior to all races. Nick Fuentes was also a man who made many evil remarks, saying he doubts that the Holocaust even happened. Fuentes is known for saying hateful language on his podcasts. In recent weeks, he called for the military to go into Black neighborhoods and demand that Jews leave the country. Mr. Fuentes describes himself as a person who supports all of Trump’s beliefs.

Former president Donald Trump previously claimed to the media that he had no clue who Fuentes even was and that Kayne West brought Fuentes to their lunch plans. While Trump claimed that he didn’t know Fuentes, he also didn’t publicly disagree with Fuentes about the comments he was making regarding imposing white supremacist and anti-Semitic beliefs. When the media found out that Trump didn’t stand up for other races and the Holocaust, people reacted negatively.

On January 6, 2021, Fuentes gathered people at the Capitol to rally outside to support Trump, and the next day, Fuentes wrote on Twitter that the assault on the Capitol was “awesome and I’m not going to pretend it wasn’t.”

After the dinner together, Trump said that he was impressed by Fuentes, as stated by another person who was present at the dinner. A person also claims that while being at dinner, Trump pointed to Fuentes and said “he gets me.”

Trump has received a lot of backlash and hate over the past few years and having dinner with this white supremacist could have completely ruined his hopes of being re-elected in the 2024 presidential election. After having dinner with Fuentes, other Republicans are refusing to defend Trump, and a member of Senate Republican leadership, Sen. Joni Ernst, stated that this dinner was “ridiculous.” Trump had claimed that he knew nothing about Fuentes showing up for the dinner. Kanye West who is also someone known for making anti-Semitic remarks, also attended this dinner, which only makes the optics for Trump worse. For being a former president and wanting to be in the 2024 election, Trump should watch what kind of people he is surrounding himself with, or his hopes of being re-elected could be extinguished before he even reaches the election.
